On October 1, 2010 at 3:00 p.m., a retirement ceremony was held in honor of Master Sergeant Edward D. McNeil at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. Master Sergeant McNeil, a Dillon native, was honored for 21 years of distinguished service.

An armed robbery occurred at the McDonald’s on Highway 38 West on October 17th.
According to Captain Cliff Arnette, shortly after midnight, two black males, who were armed and had on hoodies and disguises, entered the store and demanded all of the money.

The young man, who is listed as the victim in Mayor Pro-Tem Randolph Gurley’s attempted murder charge, was arrested on October 7th for kidnapping, according to the Dillon County Detention Center.
The Dillon High School 2010 Homecoming Queen was crowned at Friday’s game.
