Women in Philanthropy (WIP), the giving circle fund of Eastern Carolina Community Foundation, is pleased to announce the Grant Recipients for 2023. A Member Appreciation and Grants Celebration was held on Giving Tuesday, November 28 at St. John’s Anglican Church in Florence, SC.
WiP was founded in 2009 as a giving circle based on the theory that women informed about philanthropy and about the needs in their community can collectively make a difference.
These women are dedicated to improving the quality of life in the Pee Dee by combining their financial and intellectual resources to award annual grants to nonprofit organizations. Members connect to each other, and to the community and bring about change through the power of small grants.
This year, WiP provided $60,000 in grants to enonprofits in our seven-county service area. This year 46 grant applications were submitted, and 11 nonprofits were awarded grants. Those grant recipients are:
Butler Academy
CMD’s Pantry
Dillon County First Steps
Foster Care Clothing Closet
Lydia’s Bowels of Mercy
Pee Dee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Assault
Pee Dee Hearing Center
Potter House Recovery
Senior Citizens Association in Florence County
Stirrup Hope
The Performing Arts and Science Academy
Tiffany Straus, WiP President, led the event and shares, “This year we focused on awarding grants in more areas of our 7-county service areas. We are thankful for all the WiP members who help make these grant awards possible and look forward to continue to grow our membership in 2024. If you’re a woman with a giving heart, please consider membership to this amazing organization showing that women working collectively can make a difference in the communities we serve.” For more information about Women in Philanthropy, visit us online at https://www.easterncarolinacf.org/women-in-philanthropy/
