Dorene Sasser Rowell, 89, passed away Monday, September 11, 2023 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
A service to celebrate the life of Dorene Sasser Rowell will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Born in Dillon County, SC, November 14, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Earl Sasser and Elizabeth Hayes Sasser. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, and was a retired Seamstress.
She was a devoted Christian wife, mother, and grandmother who loved everybody.
Survivors include her husband of 75 years, John Henry Rowell of Dillon; daughters, Sylvia R. Jones of Dillon, Carolyn R. Webster (Larry) of Dillon, and Edna R. Elvington (Michael) of Lake View; grandchildren, Julie J. Hatcher (George), Tommy Jones (Nicole), Keith Webster (Amanda), Eric Webster (Crystal), Wesley Elvington, and Bridget Elvington; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn H. Barnes (Joseph), Avery Hatcher, Logan Jones, Madalyn Jones, Ava Webster, Ryder Elvington, Kelci Hunt, and Holdon Cooper; great-great-twin-grandsons, Gibson Alton Barnes and Colson Marion Barnes; sister, Minnie Bailey of Mullins, SC.
Mrs. Rowell was preceded in death by her parents, Earl & Elizabeth Sasser; her stepmother, Lucinda R. Sasser; son-in-law, Jerry Alton Jones; and her sister, Christine Rowell.
