PHOTO GALLERY: Dillon Takes Down Lamar

The Dillon Wildcats defeated the Lamar Silver Foxes 38-6 in varsity football action played in Lamar on Friday, August 25.
After Dillon’s Xzavion Davis took the opening kickoff, the Wildcats began to move towards the goal line with a 7-yard run by Josiah Thompson, a first down by Domonick Felton, a pass completion to Zamauriou Robertson, a pass completion to Rahmond Hamilton, and a first down by Sirmod McCallum but had to settle for a 24-yard field goal by Stephen Rojas to go up 3-0 with 7:43 remaining in the first quarter.
Lamar’s offense could not muster a first down in the first series of plays, and Juju Morris punted to Dillon’s 45-yard line.
Dillon’s offense went to work and marched to the end zone with Jamarion Fling going into the end zone with a 4-yard run for Dillon’s first touchdown of the season. Stephen Rojas’ PAT was good to give Dillon a 10-0 lead with 3:39 remaining in the first quarter.
After the Lamar Silver Foxes picked up a first down, Lamar fumbled, and Dillon recovered the football on Lamar’s 43-yard line. Josiah Thompson completed a 35-yard pass to give Dillon and first and goal. Domonick Felton carried the pigskin 8 yards into the end zone with 11:25 remaining in the second quarter. Stephen Rojas’ PAT was good to give Dillon a 17-0 lead.
After taking the kickoff, Lamar’s Alvion Ward picked up a first down to Lamar’s 44-yard line. From there, a completed 15-yard completed pass to Keaton Braddock placed the football on Dillon’s 44-yard line. The Dillon defense came to life and sacked Lamar’s quarterback, Zori Pierce twice in a row for an 8-yard loss on each occasion. Faced with a third down and 25 yards, Alvion Ward picked up 6 yards. Lamar was forced to punt on fourth down.
The football sailed 42 yards, Dillon was unable to handle the punt, and Lamar recovered the fumble on Dillon’s 18-yard line. Lamar settled for a field goal attempt but came up short.

The Wildcats were up 17-0 at halftime.

The Lamar Silver Foxes took the second-half opening kickoff and returned it to their own 25-yard line. From there, the Sliver Foxes marched to the end zone and scored on a 21-yard pass to Zoom Jackson with 5:12 remaining in the third quarter. The 2-point conversion attempt by Zoom Jackson failed. Dillon was up 17-6.
Lamar kicked the football out of bounds to Dillon, and Dillon elected to start from their own 35-yard line. Dillon fumbled on the first play, and Lamar recovered with great field position. Dillon’s defense stepped up, and Dillon took over on downs at their own 28-yard line. Domonick Felton capped off the drive with a 6-yard run with 1:36 remaining in the third quarter. Stephen Rojas’ PAT was good. Dillon led 24-6.
After the kickoff to Lamar, Lamar fumbled on the second play from offense, and Dillon’s Keryion Brown recovered the fumble on Lamar’s 29-yard line. Sirmod McCallum scored from 14 yards with 11:55 remaining in the fourth quarter. The PAT was good. Dillon was up 31-6.
The last score of the game was a 13-yard TD pass from Joshiah Thompson to Kamarion Singletary with 8:25 remaining in the game. Stephen Rojas’ PAT was good. Dillon was up 38-6.
The Dillon Wildcats 49 plays in the game with a total of 387 yards in the game with 124 yards of that in passing while the Lamar Silver Foxes had 57 plays for a total of 168 yards of which 100 yards were passing.
Dillon’s Josiah Oxendine completed 8 of 11 passes for 124 yards and a touchdown with the longest pass for 35 yards. Joshiah Oxendine carried 5 times for 27 yards with his longest run of 11 yards. Jalen McGill carried 2 times for 18 yards with his longest run of 10 yards. Hank Grider carried once for 6 yards. Jamarion Fling rushed 13 times for 115 yards including a touchdown with his longest run of 23 yards. Fling also had a reception for 17 yards. Domonick Felton carried 9 times for 66 yards and 2 touchdowns with his longest run of 28 yards. Rahmond Hamilton had 2 receptions for 48 yards with his longer one being 35 yards. Zamauriou Robertson caught 2 passes for 48 yards with his longer one of 18 yards. Kamarion Singletary had 3 receptions for 24 yards including 1 touchdown with his longest reception of 13 yards.
Dillon’s Sirmond McCallum had 4 tackles, 10 assists, 1 sack, and 2 tackles for a loss while Ian Myers had 2 tackles, 6 assists, 1 sack, and a tackle for a loss. Keryion Brown had 2 tackles and 8 assists. Zamauriou Robertson had a tackle. Shawn Samuel had a tackle and 6 assists. Wayvon Bright had a tackle, 4 assists , 1 sack, and 1 tackle for a loss. Hank Grider had a tackle and 2 assists. Jamir Washington had a tackle and an assist. Jalen McGill and Tyrik Johnson each had a tackle. Jamarion Fling had an assist. Zephaniah Campbell had 5 assists. Daniel Capehart had 4 assists. Xzavion Davion, Daveon Swindler, and Gabe Lloyd each had 3 assists. Tamarein Rogers, K. Lester, J. Scott, Jakorian German, and Z. Inman each had 2 assists. Keryion Brown, Shawn Samuel, and Tyrik Johnson each recovered a fumble.
Xzavion Davis returned a kickoff for 16 yards.
Stephen Rojas had 5 point after scores and a field goal for a total of 8 points plus he kicked off 7 times.
Jamarion Fling punted 3 times for Dillon.
Dillon will host Wilson on Friday at 7:30 p.m. while Lamar will travel to Airport.
