Jeffery Ceasar is the new head coach for the Lake View Junior Varsity football team for this year as the former head coach retired.
Ceasar has been coaching at Lake View as a varsity assistant since the 2012 season.
Ceasar and his staff are coming off a 2-6 season from last year and is faced with having lost 15 players from that team. Ceasar is hoping to fill some of the void with a few seventh through ninth graders.
Coach Ceasar has picked up Will Daniels as an assistant coach. He is also looking to add to his coaching staff.
Ceasar and his staff are looking to fill key positions such as quarterback, middle linebacker, offensive line, and defensive corner back positions.
Lake View’s junior varsity football team will implement the same offense and defense as the Lake View varsity football team.
JV Coach Ceasar’s expectation for this season is to come out and compete at a high level and to progress so the guys on the junior varsity team can contribute on the varsity level in the future. The Lake View squad has been averaging almost 30 kids during summer workouts. Caesar exclaimed “They’re getting bigger, stronger, faster, and in shape. We are using this time to teach technique, also.”
Coach Ceasar stated “We are facing some quality teams. Therefore, all of our opponents will be tough.” Ceasar also said the “team has the most experience in the skill positions but we lack experience on the offensive and defensive lines. Our players have been working hard in the off season, and I believe it will show once the season starts. I will measure our success on our abilities to compete until the end of the games.”
The Lake View JV will host Georgetown on Thursday, September 7, at 6:00 p.m. for the season opener and will travel to Hemingway on Thursday, September 14.
The Wild Gators will host Carvers Bay on Thursday, September 21. For the next 2 weeks, Lake View will be on the road, first to Latta on Thursday, September 28, and next to Creek Bridge on Thursday, October 5. The Wild Gators will have an open week on Thursday, October 12, but return to action on Thursday, October 19, as they host Johnsonville. The Lake View JV team will close out the season at home on Thursday, September 26, as they host Palmetto. All games will start at 6:00 p.m.
