A BIKE AND WALK-A-THON for Huntington’s Disease was held on Saturday, April 29th, in Dillon. HD is a hereditary neurologic disease that gradually causes a person to lose his or her independence. Over time, routine tasks such as walking, talking and eating become a struggle. Symptoms are similar to having ALS, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease simultaneously. Every child of a parent with HD has a 50% chance of inheriting the disease. Though recent medical developments offer tremendous hope for families facing HD, currently there is no treatment for the disease. We need to keep fighting for a cure.
