On Monday morning, May 8, Circuit Court Judge Alex Hyman denied Kyle Church’s motion to set bond. Assistant Solicitor Shipp Daniel argued that Church’s bond should remain denied due to the nature of the crime, which the State believes is a strong case.
“We have surveillance video that shows Mr. Church shoot the victim, Dr. Cook,” said Daniel as he showed Judge Hyman the video clip.
“This was an execution, as evidenced by the calm, deliberate way Mr. Church walked into his home, retrieved a firearm, then calmly walked back to the car where Dr. Cook was sitting and fired once, hitting her squarely in the chest.” Daniel said he has been in constant contact with defense counsel, and they hope to have the case resolved soon.
