The Evergreen Perpetual Care Cemetery & Mausoleum held the Fourteenth Annual Luminary Service on Saturday, December 3, at 6:00 p.m.
This special occasion was planned to assist everyone with honoring your loved ones and friends buried and entombed here. The music, the meditation, and the lighting of the luminary candles are all designed to bring comfort and hope to you and your family as we celebrate God’s gift of memory.
This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it even as the night arrives and darkness cries out for light. God’s sunrise will come soon enough.
As we gather at the close of this day, we light candles in memory of loved ones who have departed this life. We call ourselves to worship with a reminder that candles were made for lighting. “You will light my candle, O Lord, and will turn darkness to light.” Psalm 18:28
As you light a candle, you help dispel the darkness for others and help to remind each other that Jesus is the “Light of the World”. In John’s Gospel 8:12, we read: Jesus said, “I am the Light of the World; he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life.”
The Prelude was by Ms. Becky Elvington.
The welcome was by Mr. Benny Cooper.
Prior to the Christmas Melody, Mrs. Debbie Hill opened with prayer. The Christmas Melody was performed by Gene and Debbie Hill, Bobbie Lee, and Jimmy Tanner.
The Christmas Meditation was by Rev. Bryant Fersner.
The instructions for the lighting of the candles was by Mr. Benny Cooper.
The Postlude was by Ms. Elvington.
Those who wanted to participate in the lighting of the candles were given candles and went outside to light those for their loved ones.
The Evergreen Perpetual Care Cemetery & Mausoleum is located at 2450 Highway 301 North, Dillon, S.C.
