Rebecca Stager is the Gordon Elementary School Teacher of the Year.
Mrs. Stager is proud to have served as an educator for 26 years. She has taught grades 2-5, ESL, gifted, and virtual. Born and raised in Arizona, she began her teaching career in 1997 in a suburb of Phoenix. She taught for 18 years in the Phoenix area in various grade levels and roles. She has her master’s degree in reading instruction and has a passion for teaching literacy.
She and her family moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2015, where Mrs. Stager served as an instructional coach and reading interventionist. She coached new teachers on best teaching practices and provided interventions for struggling readers. She enjoyed working with the diverse population of students and saw tremendous growth in their reading skills.
In 2020, she and her family were brought to Dillon, where her husband took an assistant pastor position at a local church.
Mrs. Stager was hired at Gordon Elementary School where she taught fifth grade. She then transitioned to fourth grade and is now the Elementary Gifted and Talented teacher for grades 3-5 in Dillon District Four. Mrs. Stager is happy to serve students in the community in this capacity.
