Many historians consider the Revolutionary War to have been won in the swamps, fields and woods of South Carolina. The events of 1776-1782 in the Carolinas led directly to an American victory.
The Liberty Trail is a driving tour to the major battlefields of the American Revolution in South Carolina.
The tour is part of a larger effort to commemorate South Carolina’s important role in the American Revolution.
In 2018, the South Carolina General Assembly chartered the South Carolina 250 American Revolution Anniversary Commission to plan and promote this celebration.
On November 6, 2021 a group of leaders of this commission met in Camden, S.C. to promote the event and to encourage each South Carolina county to get involved.
We encourage all residents of Dillon County to get involved. Toward this goal, a committee is being formed in Dillon to forward the effort. Please contact Lesa Bethea @ 843-845-5347 to find out more.
