James Island, SC – Joyce Collins Taylor Spann died June 14, 2021. Graveside services will be held at Magnolia Cemetery in Latta, SC on Friday, June 18, at 2:00 P.M. The family will receive friends after the service. Kannaday Funeral Home in Latta is assisting the family.
Joyce was born in Marion County on November 7, 1928, to the late Harvey Wade and Wilma Byrd Collins. She was a member of Latta Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Taylor Boyd, of James Island, SC; son, James Lafon (Jennifer) Taylor of Eastsound, WA, and step-son Edward Charlton (Margaret) Spann of Florence, SC; grandchildren Samuel David (Kelbi) Morris of Atlanta, GA, John Leland Boyd of James Island, SC, and Elizabeth Taylor (Russell) Guerry of Eastsound, WA; great grandchildren, Lumen Scout Morris and Ryan Taylor Guerry, several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, step mother, Alene E. Collins of Mullins, SC; sister, June Collins Rowell of Charleston, SC; sister-in-law, Patsy Smith of Latta, SC; and many nieces and nephews.
Joyce was predeceased by her parents, her first husband, Lafon Hardy Taylor, her second husband, Edward Charlton Spann; a special aunt, Hazel Collins Kuhn and special cousin, Grace Owens Brown.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be made to Latta Presbyterian Church, 110 North Richardson Street, Latta, S.C., 29565, Latta Rescue Squad, 107 West Bamberg Street, Latta, S.C., 29565 or Magnolia Cemetery Association, 117 West Main Street, Latta, S.C., 29565.
