An altercation resulted in a stabbing death on Tuesday, June 2nd, according to Chief David Lane of the City of Dillon Police Department.
Lane said the incident occurred at a home on the 800 block of South First Avenue, where the people who lived there got into an altercation. The victim was stabbed, Lane said.
Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley identified the victim as Carl Melvin Norman, a 54-year-old black male, of Dillon County. Grimsley said Norman died as a result of a knife wound.
Jerry Lamont Covington, a 42-year-old black male, of Dillon, was charged with murder, Lane said. Covington lived at the residence where the incident occurred.
