Cheraw Hands Lake View A Loss
The Cheraw Braves handed the Lake View Wild Gators a 67-54 loss in varsity basketball action played in Chesterfield on Friday, December 27, in the Chesterfield High School Tournament.
Cheraw held a 9-point lead, 17-8 after the first period of play. By halftime Lake View had cut the lead to 7 points, 30-23. After 3 periods of play, the score was knotted at 37. Cheraw’s Marshall Myers scored a game-high 24 points followed by Jonathan Gordon who added 16 points for the Braves.
Lake View’s Jiqyele Reaves placed 16 points on the scoreboard for the Wild Gators. Montrell Waters added 11 points while Larry Inman connected for 10 points. Elijah Bethea had 7 points, and Da’Correus Ford and Michael McInnis each contributed 4 points. Marquise Johnson added 2 points for the Wild Gators.
West Columbus Defeats DCS
West Columbus of North Carolina handed Dillon Christian School a 91-68 loss at the Adidas Tournament at West Bladen High School.
The Warriors found themselves down by 15 points , 25-10 after the first period of play. By halftime, Dillon Christian was down 49-33.
Dillon Christian School’s Adam Norman scored a team-high 18 points followed by Philip Campbell who added 17 points. Josh Duran contributed 10 points.
Ian Bethea added 9 points, and Weston Glasgow had 8 points. Greyson Singletary connected for 3 points, and Caleb Boykin had 2 points.
FMU Gets Victory
FLORENCE, SC – Junior forward Kiana Adderton scored 10 of her career-high 26 points in the second quarter to fuel a Francis Marion University rally as the Patriots claimed an 82-73 Peach Belt Conference win over visiting Young Harris College, Saturday afternoon (Dec. 21) in women’s basketball action.
Former Dillon High School stand-out junior guard Khamele Manning connected for four 3-point shots in the game.
FMU improves to 5-3 and evens its PBC record at 1-1.
Lake View Loses
The Lake View Wild Gators varsity boys suffered a 76-56 loss to Porter Ridge of North Carolina at the Chesterfield Tournament held at Chesterfield High School on Thursday, December 26.
Lake View held a 4-point, 16-12 lead after the first period of play. By halftime, Porter Ridge was up by 10 points, 36-26. After 3 periods of play, Porter Ridge was up 54-41.
Lake View’s Montrell Waters scored a team-high 17 points followed by Larry Inman with 14 points. Ford added 7 points while Jiqyle Reaves connected for 6 points. Dylan Bullock and Elijah Bethea each had 4 points. Michael McInnis added 3 points.
