For this year’s VBS, Mount Calvary Baptist Church presented “Roar! Life is Wild . . . God is Good,” a place where children learn how God is good even when life gets wild! It’s set in the African savanna, so it was a roaring adventure. “Roar” was filled with incredible Bible-learning experiences kids see, hear, and touch. Sciency-Fun Gismos, team-building games, cool Bible songs, and active Bible lessons are just a few of the activities that helped faith flow into real life. Following supper, children gathered for an opening assembly where the Paws Kids performed praise songs, children learned about our mission project for the week, and met the wacky and wild “Roar” characters.
There were classes for ages 2 through youth with a senior adult ladies class The 2-3 year olds explore at their own pace and level in their Little Paws Preschool classroom. Four-year-olds through fifth grade rotate through Roar stations visiting five different sites each day. The five rotations were Wild Bible Adventures, KidVid Cinema, music and memory, Stampede Sports, and hands-on science experiments at the Imagination Station. Activities are planned to reinforce the Bible truth of the night at each station. Graded groups were based on the grade completed this past year in school. Youth met upstairs in the Youth Room and were engaged in active Bible learning and games.
The children learned that God is good:
Day 1-When life is unfair. Day 2-When life is scary. Day 3-When life changes. Day 4- When life is sad. Day 5-When life is good.
“Roar” began on Sunday, June 9 and continued through Thursday, June 13 from 6:00 until 8:45 each evening.
Mount Calvary Baptist Church is located two miles east of Dillon just off highway number 9. For information call the church office at 774-7871.
