FOUND!

Mrs. Jaxie Rogers has been found alive in Columbus County, NC, according to Captain Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office. She was found shortly after 11:30 a.m. this morning. Law enforcement got a call on the vehicle initially and brought in a helicopter and bloodhounds. She was found in a wooded area not far from her vehicle. Arnette thanks the public for all of their help in trying to locate Mrs. Rogers.

UPDATE:
Mrs. Jaxie Rogers, age 85, was found alive on Tuesday in Columbus County, NC, according to Captain Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
Mrs. Rogers was reported missing from the Latta area last Friday after she left a location in her vehicle. The Latta Police Department, who initially handled the case, said she was suffering from dementia.
According to a press release from the Columbus County, Sheriff’s Office, “On June 11th, at approximately 8:00 a.m., utility workers were in the vicinity of the 11,000 block of Old Highway 74, next to the Lumber River, when they located an abandoned vehicle.”
The press release continues, “The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the location and confirmed that the abandoned vehicle belonged to Mrs. Rogers. Columbus County Sheriff’s Office contacted the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office in reference to providing additional resources to assist in the search for Mrs. Rogers. Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office Tracking and Bloodhound Team was deployed and began searching the area near the vehicle. Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office also deployed their helicopter to assist with the search. Multiple agencies provided boots on the ground to assist in locating Mrs. Rogers.”
“At approximately 11:30 a.m., Mrs. Rogers was located approximately one half mile from her vehicle in a densely wooded area, beside of the Lumber River.”
“Mrs. Rogers traveled through areas of high water during her journey. She was dehydrated but in good spirits. Her first request was for something to drink. Mrs. Rogers was carried out of the wooded area and transported to the hospital for evaluation,’ the press release said.
Agencies participating in the search in Columbus County included the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, NC Division of State Parks, Columbus County Emergency Management, Chadbourn Rescue, Evergreen Fire Department, Dillon County Sheriff’s Office (SC), and Latta Police Department (SC). Captain Arnette said they appreciate the efforts made by everyone to locate Mrs. Rogers.
