On Thursday, May 16, 2019 just before 12:30 p.m., Deputy Troy Jones with the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle on Highway 9 and Deerwood Avenue in Dillon, according to Captain Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver refused to stop, and a brief chase ensued in the City of Dillon, Arnette said. The driver ended up running the vehicle into a lake. The driver exited the vehicle and jumped in the water to get away.
The driver was apprehended and taken into custody without further incident.
The Dillon County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Dillon Police Department.
The driver of the vehicle, Christopher Delton English, age 39, of Dillon, has been charged with driving under suspension and failure to stop for blue light.
