BENNETTSVILLE– April 16, 2019 – Marlboro Electric Cooperative, Inc. (MEC) is pleased to announce an 8% Summer rate decrease to its residential members. Members will see this decrease on their monthly bill during the months of May thru August.
“After a very successful rate decrease this past Winter, the MEC board voted again to reduce rates for the Summer, focusing on the months where energy use is generally higher due to the warmer weather.” Chairman of the MEC Board of Trustees Bo McInnis said.
This announcement marks the 6th time in as many years MEC has reduced residential rates to its members, adding to the total reduction of 31% accomplished over the previous 5 years.
“Even as the nation continues to see rising energy costs, MEC has been able to consistently reduce our member’s rates due in part to the continued success of our for-profit subsidiary MDT along with our constant focus on efficiency.” MEC president and CEO William L. Fleming Jr. says. “It is my hope that through hard work and lots of prayer, we can continue to provide our members with the best service and lowest rates possible.”
