The Dillon Lady Wildcats rallied in the final inning to take a 13-10 win over the Latta Lady Vikings in Latta on Thursday, March 21, in a non-conference game.
Dillon got to work in the top of the first inning and placed 3 runs on the scoreboard. However, it was Latta’s turn in the bottom of the first inning when Bailey Wiggins singled scoring 2 runs. Latta added 2 more runs that inning to take a 4-3 lead.
Dillon managed a run in the top of the second inning when Nyeisha Wilson doubled to knot the score at 4. However, that score quickly changed as Latta added 3 runs in the bottom of the second inning.
The Lady Vikings placed 3 more runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third inning to take a 10-4 lead. Latta enjoyed that lead until the top of the fifth inning when the Lady Wildcats scored 3 runs of their own to cut Latta’s lead to 3 runs.
Dillon came roaring back in the top of final inning and scored 6 runs to capture the 13-10 win.
The Latta Vikings connected for 10 hits including 3 home runs in the game. Jena Stutler connected for a home run, a double, 2 rbi, and scored 2 runs in her 4 at-bats. Bailey Wiggins had 2 singles, 3 rbi, and scored a run in her 4 at-bats. Rayne Nolan had a home run, a walk, 1 rib, and scored a run in her 4 plate appearances. Kaleigh Caulder hit a home run, had a rbi, walked, and scored 2 runs in her 4 plate appearances. Jayla Jackson had a single, a walk, 2 rbi, and scored a run in her 4 plate appearances. Hannah Medlin had 2 singles, a walk, and scored a run in her 4 plate appearances. Arica Gandy singled and scored a run in her 4 at-bats. Kaylah Davis scored a run.

Monazia Sowell had 2 singles and scored 2 runs in her 5 at-bats. Jenascia had a triple, a rbi, and scored a run in her 4 at-bats. Monazia Sowell picked up the win. She pitched 6.2 innings and allowed 9 hits, 8 runs of which 6 were earned, walked 1, and struck out 4. Charlotte Sellers pitched .1 inning in relief and allowed 1 hit, 2 runs of which 1 was earned, and walked 3.
Arica Gandy was charged with the loss. She pitched 2 innings and allowed 5 hits, 7 runs of which 4 were earned, walked 1, and struck out 1. Jayla Jackson pitched 5 innings and allowed 8 hits, 6 earned runs, walked 3, and struck out 4.
Latta will will travel to East Clarendon today (Tuesday, March 26) for a 6:00 p.m. game.
