Former Major League Baseball player, Leroy Stanton, was killed in a wreck on March 13th in Florence County. The 72-year-old was driving a Dodge pickup truck and was driving on Sam Harrell Road when he went through a stop sign, crossed over McIver Road and ran off the roadway. Stanton, who was not wearing a seatbelt, hit a tree and was thrown from the truck, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol. Stanton was featured in The Dillon Herald during Black History month by columnist, Carley Wiggins.
