Services for Rev. John David Kersey will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2019 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Tart Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7:00-9:00 p.m. Monday at Cooper Funeral Home, and at other times at Mallory Church of God Fellowship Hall.
Rev. Kersey, 81, went to be with his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 17, 2019.
Born in Marlboro County, SC, April 7, 1937, he was the son of the late John Kersey and Gracie Turner Kersey. He was a member of Mallory Church of God where he pastored for 19 years. He was a retired truck driver for APAC Carolina, and was a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran.
Survivors include his sons, Frankie (Jamie) Kersey of Darlington, Billy Kersey, and Warren (Sandra) Kersey, both of Latta; grandchildren, Josh Webster of the home; Christopher (Ginger) Kersey of Latta, Justin (Mary) Kersey of Florence, Tyler (Chelsey) Sandifer of Darlington, Christy Skipper of Latta, and Hannah (Brent) Lane of Darlington; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Doug Kersey of Latta; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Byrdie and Howard Lovette.
Rev. Kersey was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Tarte Kersey; daughters, Tammy Kersey, and Cathy Kersey; son, Little David Kersey; sisters, Dorothy Kersey Nolan, and Vera Grettle Hayes; and brother, Mack Kersey.
