One person was found dead and another was found unresponsive at a location in the Latta area this weekend, according to Captain Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
On Sunday, March 3, 2019 just before 10:00 a.m. Dillon County 911 received a call in reference to two unresponsive individuals on McDowell Court in Latta, Arnette said.
Dillon County EMS, Latta Rescue and Oak Grove First Responders were dispatched, and upon arrival of first responders two individuals were found unresponsive.
The Dillon County Sheriff’s Office and Dillon County Coroner’s Office were notified after one of the individuals was determined to be deceased, said Arnette.
The death is under investigation by the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office and Dillon County Coroner’s Office.
The Coroner’s Office has ordered an autopsy on the deceased.
Update:
Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley identified the victim in the incident on McDowell Court in Latta.
Grimsley identifies him as Maxwell Moody, an 18-year-old white male of Dillon County. Grimsley said he died as a result of asphyxiation due to carbon monoxide.
