Mount Calvary Baptist Church held the monthly meeting of Brotherhood, WMU, and BYU on Monday, January 7, at 7:00 p.m., in the Family Life Center.
After a delicious meal and fellowship, each group dispersed to the proper locations.
John Jones was the guest speaker for Brotherhood. His topic was “Who Is The Greatest In The Kingdom of Jesus Christ?” He based his talk on Matthew Chapter 18 and Mark Chapter.
Jesus answered that question of us. First, one has to be converted and stop sinning. Second, one has to become as children and depend on Jesus for everything.
One must believe first. Our lives must match what we say.
God’s Word has proven to be true.
Be humble in all you do. Then, you will be great with Jesus. Serve God and be humble. By the way we treat other people, we receive Christ. Do not offend anyone who believes in Christ. Do not cause anyone to stumble. We must not be poor examples to others.
Learn from the Ten Commandments. Do children see us honoring our mothers and fathers? Do children see us murdering? Do children see us committing adultery? Do children see us steal? Do children see us lying? If we do any of these and the other commandments, we cause children to stumble.
Our vision becomes cloudy watching what goes on in this world.
We should prepare the children for what’s going to take place if they are Christians.
Are we making the effort to be good examples? At one time or another we have all been stumbling blocks for others.
If we want to be great, we must humble ourselves.
Mount Calvary Baptist Church is located at 405 Mount Calvary Road, Dillon.
The pastor is Rev. Harold Cooke.
