Fay Tomlinson Daws, of Dillon, SC, died Tuesday, January 8, 2019, in Florence, SC.
Mrs. Daws was born in Oktibbeha County, MS, on July 24, 1929.
She graduated from Arcola (MS) High School and from King’s Daughters Nursing School, Greenville, MS.
Mrs. Daws was a retired SC state employee, having served as one of the first two school nurses in Dillon District Two as well as a teacher of health occupations for the district.
At her retirement, she was home health coordinator of DSS.
Before entering sate employment, Mrs. Daws was a Registered Nurse at St. Eugene Hospital, Dillon. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Dillon, for over fifty years.
Mrs. Daws is survived by her four children: Virginia D. Bowman, Dillon; John T. Daws, Tucson, AZ; Rebecca D. Coleman, Dillon; and Sandra Daws, Dillon. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: John S. Daws, Mel Coleman, Jennifer Coleman, Caroline Ridgeway, Hannah Dutton, Amy Meisser, Leah McMillan, and Kristen McMillan. Also surviving are her twin brother Ray Tomlinson of Starkville, MS along with twenty-two nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Daws was predeceased by her husband, John T. Daws II, her parents, Edgar and Sallie Harpole Tomlinson, and eight siblings: Betty Long, Loyd Tomlinson, Dan Tomlinson, Paul Tomlinson, L. D. Tomlinson, Pat LaMorte, Ann Nowell, and Evelyn Townley.
Interment will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Greenville, MS, on Saturday, January 12, at 2:00 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Dillon, SC, on Wednesday, January 16 at 4:00 p.m., visitation with the family afterwards.
