Henry McMaster won Governor of South Carolina in Tuesday’s General Election.
According to the unofficial results from the S.C. Election Commission, Henry McMaster/Pamela Evette won governor and lieutenant governor with 53.93 percent of the vote over James Smith/Mandy Powers Norrell.
Mark Hammond retained his position of Secretary of State over Melvin T. Whittenburg with 57.09 percent of the vote.
Curtis Loftis remains State Treasurer with 55.93 percent of the vote. Alan Wilson also won over Constance Anastopoulo with 55.04 percent of the vote, and Comptroller General Richard Eckstrom and Superintendent of Education Molly Mitchell Spearman both kept their posts.
Hugh Weathers, Commissioner of Agriculture, overwhelmingly defeated his two opponents garnering 75.70 percent of the vote.
Tom Rice got 59.64 percent of the vote to keep his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, District 7, race over Robert Williams.
Local turnout was heavy on Tuesday despite the fact that there were no opposed local races.
