Carolina Academy left Dillon on Friday, October 19, with a 26-13 win over the Dillon Christian School Warriors.
With 4:22 remaining in the first quarter, Carolina Academy’s Tyson Brown raced 40 yards for the first score of the game. A 2-point conversion attempt failed. With only 1:04 remaining in the second quarter, the Warriors’ Gage Bazemore hit a 38-yard field goal. Dillon Christian School’s Gage Bazemore got the Warriors to within 1 point of the visiting Carolina Academy team when he connected on a 29-yard field goal with 5:08 remaining in the third quarter.
However, with only 2:00 minutes remaining in the third quarter, Jeremiah Brunson returned an interception 73 yards for a 6-point score. The 2-point run conversion attempt failed.
The fourth quarter had lots of action in the waning moments of the game. With 1:09 remaining, Carolina Academy’s Jordan scored on a 10-yard run. The 2-point run conversion attempt failed.
Dillon Christian School quickly responded with a 66-yard score on a pass from Trent Johnson to Austin Heasley with only 51 seconds remaining in the game. Gage Bazemore’s PAT was good. Carolina Academy placed 6 more points on the scoreboard with only 29 seconds remaining on a 55-yard run by Tyson Brand. The 2-point conversion attempt failed. The Warriors’ John Rourke rushed for 94 yards on 20 carries. Austin Heasley 73 yards on 2 passes.
Dillon Christian School’s Walt Bailey had 10 solo tackles in the game.
Carolina Academy’s Tyson Brand rushed for 141 yards and 2 touchdowns on 13 carries and caught 2 passes for 31 yards while Shay Hall carried 13 times for 133 yards. Hall also completed 6 of 14 passes for 78 yards. George Wilder picked up 47 yards on 12 carries and caught a pass for 21 yards. Matthew Joye caught 2 passes for 27 yards. The Dillon Christian School Warriors are 2-5 for the season and 1-2 in Region 6-3A. Dillon Christian School will travel to Thomas Sumter on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. game. Support your team.
