The Mullins Auctioneers left Latta on Senior night on Thursday, October 25, with a 50-21 win over the Latta Vikings.
Latta’s J R McClam took the opening kickoff. Mullins held Latta on 3 offensive plays, and Latta’s Kavi Patel was forced to punt.
Latta’s JR McClam intercepted a pass and Latta’s offense began to roll. After 6 plays, Latta’s Chandler Nolan scored the first 6 points of the game with 7:11 remaining in the first quarter. Kavi Patel’s PAT was good. Latta led 7-0 over the visiting Auctioneers.
Mullins quickly responded with a touchdown pass from #1 with 6:14 remaining in the first quarter. The 2-point conversion attempt failed. Latta now held a slim 1-point lead.
Latta began to move down the field and scored on a pass from Dylan Brewer to Trey Pelt with 44.6 seconds remaining in the first quarter. Kavi Patel’s PAT was good, and Latta’s now led 14-6.
Mullins’ #28 scored on a block punt with 7:35 remaining in the second quarter. The Auctioneers knotted the score at 14 on a 2-point rush by #7.
With 4:33 remaining in the first half, Dylan Brewer tossed one to Jamario Taylor that was good for a 54-yard touchdown. Kavi Patel’s PAT was good. Latta 21 and Mullins 14.
Mullins’ #1 carried for a touchdown with 2:59 remaining in the first half. The 2-point conversion failed.
At halftime Latta held a slim 1-point lead.
However, in the second half the Auctioneers poured on the scoring.
Latta’s Dylan Brewer completed 21 of 35 passes for 287 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also rushed for 28 yards on 6 carries. J R McClam caught 7 passes for 126 yards and made an interception while Jamario Taylor had 2 passes for 60 yards and a touchdown. Trey Anderson was on the receiving end of 5 passes for 60 yards and a touchdown while Brandon Hayes caught 4 passes for 15 yards and had 2 tackles. Chandler Nolan had 3 catches for 26 yards, rushed for 47 yards on 13 carries, and had 2 tackles. Tysean Johnson picked up 33 yards on 5 rushes.
Latta’s Chandler Matthews led with 7 tackles while Jay Bailey had 4 tackles. Tommy Aiken and Matt Clark each had 3 tackles in the game. Kiese Blake made 2 tackles. Haden Graham, Zach Jones, A J Herring, and Brice McRae each had a tackle. During homecoming on Friday, November 2, Latta will host Kingstree.
