Jesse Lee “Jay” Jones, III, 55, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, Thursday, October 4, 2018, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
Services were held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation was held 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Cooper Funeral Home. There was a visitation also Friday 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Teresa & Andy Hyatt’s home at 2139 Dove Mill Rd., Dillon.
Born in Dillon County, SC, October 8, 1962, he was the son of the late Jesse Lee Jones, Jr. and Mildred “Millie Jackson Jones. Jay was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and a 1980 Graduate of Dillon High School. He was a Mechanic, and he loved racing. He was a selfless, kind and generous man, who was a friend to all who knew him. Jay was always willing to offer a helping hand to those who needed it. He will be missed by those many people, whose lives he touched.
Survivors include his son, Trey Austin McDowell (Katie Miller), a stepson, Cody Gaddy (Amber) of Florence; half-brother, Charles Lane of Latta; half-sisters, Linda Lane of Dillon, and Susan Sheats (Richard) of Red Springs, NC; brother, Robert Lynn Bridges.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents; a half-sister, Peggy Campbell; half-brothers, James Robert Lane and Glenn Lane.
