A hurricane planning meeting was held in Latta on Sunday night at the former Latimer School building.
Jarett Taylor, Latta Town Administrator, who had called the meeting. reviewed the Town of Latta’s hurricane emergency plan.
Latta officials, county officials, and Red Cross officials were present.
During the meeting, the Latta Town Council voted to declare a state of emergency, which makes it easier for them to be able to make emergency preparations.
Also, when power goes out, the Town of Latta will be under a 7:00 p.m. curfew until further notice. Latta will have a shelter open at the old Latimer School. Preparations have been underway in Latta for the upcoming storm for several days.
Another meeting was planned for Tuesday evening (after the press deadline).
