SPARTANBURG – Golda Stevens Hill, 88, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2018, at Spartanburg, SC. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James David Hill.
Born in Overton, Nevada on January 21, 1930, she was the daughter of Amos Henry Stevens Jr. and Polly Curtis Stevens, being the youngest of fourteen children, all who have preceded her in death. She was a 1948 graduate of Las Vegas High School and was employed by Mountain Bell as a telephone operator before moving to Dillon, SC and working as a seamstress for 25 years at Latta Craftex.
Golda Hill was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a fourth generation member of said church. She attended the Marion Branch with her family from the early seventies until moving to Spartanburg, SC in 2015 and attending the Spartanburg 1st Ward. She was a faithful Latter Day Saint attending services and the temple up until the time of her death. She spent her life serving others, caring for her family, and taking care of her pets.
She is survived by her seven children: Jimmy Lee Hill(Gail), Delaine Polly Hill, Eva Mae Young, Cheryl Ann Solesbee, Linda Joyce Smith, David Edward Hill and Lisa Nadine Jackson(Glenn). She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Visitation and viewing will be from 12:00-1:00 p.m., Tuesday August 21, 2018, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 200 Faulk Rd., Marion, SC 29571 with the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Following the service, interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery located at 1252 Hwy. 57 South, Dillon, SC.
