As the Class of 2018 prepares to graduate, Northeastern Technical College is launching a new program for graduates who haven’t yet made plans for education or career training beyond high school.
NETC will award 60 scholarships to graduating seniors in Dillon County who are interested in short-term workforce certification.
The Career Connect program is designed for local 2018 graduates who dream of one day having a successful career, but aren’t looking to earn a two or four year college degree. Students selected for the program will be able choose from a number of short-term career certification programs that begin this summer, with most programs providing career certification by the end of the year.
Certification programs being offered are in career areas such as Business, Healthcare, Criminal Justice, Information Management, Engineering and Industrial Technology, Welding, and Logistics.
“College isn’t for everyone. It just isn’t. This program is designed for you to start a career you are passionate about. You can learn to work on trucks! Learn how to build homes! Learn how to weld underwater! Who knows!! This is YOUR opportunity to start your adventure,” said NETC’s Dean of Workforce Development, Dr. Mark Bunch.
Students who enroll in the Career Connect program will receive a scholarship to take two free classes during the 2018 Summer Semester, but must make a continued commitment to enroll in the Fall 2018 semester to complete their certification program.
For more information, interested 2018 high school graduates should call Northeastern Technical College at 843-921-6900 by May 18.
