The Main Street United Methodist Church Men held their annual golf tournament at the City of Dillon municipal golf course to benefit the Dillon County Chapter of the American Red Cross. The group raised $27,000 to help the organization.
Phil Wallace thanked Ronnie “Catfish” Carter for contacting contributors. Wallace said that people say the golf course serves only one percent of our county; however, at events like this, it serves a great deal more.
Nicole Echols of the American Red Cross said words cannot express what this means to the Red Cross. She said their efforts are greatly appreciated.
Dennis James of the American Red Cross said he was the one who reaches out to those who are experiencing trouble. He said without groups like this, he could not do what he does.
After comments, guests enjoyed a meal and 18-hole scramble.
