The Dillon Christian School Warriors returned home Tuesday, February 27, after being edged out by the Florence Christian Eagles 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning in a varsity baseball game played in Florence.
Florence Christian placed 2 runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning to take a 2-0 lead.
Dillon Christian responded with a run in the top of the third inning to cut the lead to 1. However, in the bottom of the fourth inning Florence Christian placed 2 more runs on the scoreboard to take a 4-1 lead.
Dillon Christian tied the game with 3 runs in the top of the fifth inning. The score remained that way until the bottom of the seventh inning when Florence Christian’s Jacob Elliott singled to left field that scored Braxton Shelley from second to claim the 5-4 win.
Florence Christian committed 3 errors in the game, and Dillon Christian committed 2 errors.
Robbie Jordan picked up he win. He pitched 3 innings and allowed 3 hits, 3 runs of which 1 was earned, walked 2, and struck out 3.
Dillon Christian School managed 5 hits in the game while Florence Christian managed 4 hits.
Dillon Christian will host Florence Christian today, Thursday, March 1, at 5 p.m.
