The Dillon County Council for the Aging’s building was discussed at the City of Dillon’s council meeting on Monday night.
Dillon City Manager Glen Wagner said the city owns the building. Wagner said the city talked about the change needed on Main Street and leading by example.
Wagner said the Council for the Aging got three proposals for replacement windows, painting, awnings, and stucco work. The lowest bid came in at $28,000+.
Wagner said he asked if the Council for the Aging had any money available to put towards the work. He was told they did not have any money for this work. Wagner said the Council for the Aging had applied for a grant to do some work inside the building.
Councilman Johnny Eller asked if they had advertised for bids. Wagner said he did not know; but he agreed that if the city was going to bear 100 percent of the cost, the city needed to bid it out themselves. Councilman John Braddy said there needed to be a scope of work to go out with the bid. Councilwoman Connie Manning asked how soon they wanted to proceed. Wagner said of course they would like to start immediately, but that they understand that there is a process.
Wagner will be moving forward with getting a more formal bid.
