On Saturday, February 3, 2018 at approximately 2:00 a.m., the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office, Dillon County EMS and Dillon Rescue were dispatched to a shooting on Lester Road in Dillon, according to Captain Cliff Arnette of the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arrival of law enforcement at the scene, it was determined that three people were shot. The victims were transported to McLeod Medical Center in Dillon, and one victim was pronounced dead. The victim is a five-year-old child, according to Arnette.
The shooting is being treated as a homicide and currently under investigation by the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office and the Dillon County Coroner’s Office. SLED Crime scene was called to assist with processing the scene.
Lakiesha Shanae Martin, age 24, of Latta, has been charged with attempted murder for the shooting of one of the victims who occurred on Lester Road on Saturday, February 3, 2018. Martin is not charged in the death of the five-year-old child.
Lakiesha Martin is currently in custody at the Dillon County Detention Center.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
