The South Carolina 4-H and South Carolina Scholastic Clay Target Program hosted the first ever youth skeet doubles event at Mid-Carolina gun club on January 25, 2018. Dillon County 4-H sent one 3 person squad to compete. The squad members were Dakota Roberts, Cole Gasque, and Brenna Miller.
Dakota is a Sir Division shooter who is in the 10 grade. Cole is a Jr. Division shooter who is in the 9th grade. Brenna is an intermediate class shooter who is in the 8th grade.
In skeet doubles, the contestants shoot two simultaneous targets from each skeet station, 1 through 7. There are no single targets. In this event each shooter had a total of 50 targets.
Dakota and Cole both shot 38 targets out of 50 and Brenna shot 36 targets out of 50. The total team score was 116. Their score was 8 birds higher than the Jr. Division but because Dakota is a Sr. class shooter, they were placed in the Sr. Division and they did not place in the Sr. Division
Brenna’s score of 36 was the third highest of all shooters in the Intermediate division so she was awarded third place HOA in the Intermediate Divison and also third place in the Ladies division.
Dillon County 4-H would like to thank the South Carolina Friends of the NRA for a grant that provided equipment for practice. Any youth are eligible to join 4-H. The Clemson University Cooperative Extension Service offers its programs to people of all ages, regardless of race, color, gender, religion, national origin, disability, political beliefs, sexual orientation, marital or family status and is an equal opportunity employer.
