Dear Editor,
Ordinarily, I would utilize my column to express my perspective, opinions, and sentiments. I want to use this letter as an opportunity to convey my belated congratulations toward Coach Jackie Hayes, his coaching staff, and especially the Wildcats’ players for winning the 3A State Championship in such a masterful fashion. For not only did they win the title, but they vindicated a loss that myself and many others felt was caused by bias and unfair officiating. Of all the Wildcats teams that have won state championships over the past ten years, this team is, in my opinion-though not the most talented, have been the most determined and gutsy. Thanks, Coach Hayes, for putting together a winning system of champions and what certainly must be recognized by everyone who knows anything about high school football, as a dynasty. What you, your coaching staff, and players have done has brought great honor and pride to our town and locale. Furthermore, it has silenced all of the Dillon Wildcats’ critics and everyone who dared to say that we could not win at the triple A level, where the teams are supposed to be more competitive and talented.
