Although Darius McRae pumped in 23 points, it was not enough to help the Latta Vikings win against Darlington on Monday, December 18, in varsity basketball action played in Darlington.
Latta held a 4-point lead after the first period of play but fell behind in the second period and was unable to rebound. Darlington added to the lead in the third period by placing 25 points on the scoreboard while holding Latta to 8 points.
Darlington added another 22 points in the final period to claim an 80-53 win.
Nasir Sellers placed 6 points on the scoreboard for Latta. The Vikings’ Naeem Roberts connected for 5 points while Deonte Stanley and Moultrie each hit for 4 points. J. R. McClam and Shiheed Jones each added 3 points while Treron Miles and Jaquan Butts each garnered 2 points. Brandon Page connected for a point on a free throw.
Jalian Smith led Darlington in scoring with 17 points while Javarious Williams connected for 10 points. Muldrow added 9 points, and Hickman and K. Scott each had 8 points. Robinson and T. Scott contributed 7 points apiece, and Coleman and Graham each had 4 points. Jones garnered 3 points.
Latta played Lamar at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, at the Darlington Falcons High School Classic.
