KENNESAW, GA – Lillie Mae Pratt Coward of Latta, South Carolina, died Sunday, November 12, 2017 in Kennesaw, Georgia, after a year-long illness.
Born in Hartsville, South Carolina, on February 15, 1932 to the late George W. and Alma McLain Pratt, Mrs. Coward was the owner and operator of “Miss” Lillie’s Nursery for over thirty years. She was a faithful member of Latta Baptist Church, where she served as a director in the younger children’s department for over thirty years. She was an active member of the Women’s Missionary Union until her illness.
As a member of the American Legion Auxilary #49, Mrs. Coward served as president and American essay chairperson.
Mrs. Coward is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Harriet Michelle Coward and William T. Wells, Jr. of Kennesaw, Georgia and two sisters, Beatrice Killingsworth of Mullins, South Carolina, and Victoria Ward of Shallotte, North Carolina.
She was predeceased by her husband of over fifty years, Herbert M. Coward, Sr.; son, Herbert M. Coward, Jr.; sisters, Margaret Strickland, Christine Burnette, Norma Foster, and brothers, Franklin Pratt and George David Pratt.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 14, from 6PM to 7:30PM at Kannaday Funeral Home in Latta, South Carolina. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00PM on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Latta Baptist Church with burial in Magnolia Cemetery.
