Floyd Dale – James Aubrey McDonald, 81, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017. Mr. McDonald, fondly known as “John”, lived in Floyd Dale, SC and was known for his annual BBQs at Mt. Andrew United Methodist Church, where he was a devoted member and servant for more than 50 years. He was married for 53 years to Brenda Rowell of Maxton, NC. Mr. McDonald was a devoted and loyal son to his mother and father with whom he farmed and also owned and operated Floyd Dale Grocery Store for many years. His true passion was gardening, and nothing made him happier than sharing his garden bounty year after year with family and friends.

Mr. McDonald is predeceased by his mother, Thelma Horton McDonald, his father, Joe McDonald, and his brother, Bobby McDonald. He is survived by his wife, Brenda McDonald; his sister, Billie Weatherford; his son, Rev. Joseph “Joey” McDonald (Mickaylla); his daughter, Kay Earles (Allen); and his eight grandchildren, Meghan Ridgeway (Chase), Jessica King, Mark McDonald, Jordan Earles, Josh Gue, Zac Gue, James McDonald and Mathew Gue.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 22, 2017 in Kannaday Funeral Home Chapel in Dillon with Rev. Marty Nason officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, July 21, 2017 at Kannaday Funeral Home.
