Memorial services for Marcia Shaw Barnard Chandler will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Main Street United Methodist Church directed by Cooper Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 10:30-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Chandler, 87, died Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Deepwoods Estates in Lexington, SC.
Born at Walnut Hospital in Arlington, Massachusetts, August 22, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John Alden Barnard and Grace Winifred Copeland Barnard. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, American Society for the Prevention of the Cruelty to Animals, Sea Shepard Conservation Society, (Past) Junior Charity League, and the Dillon Theater Board. She was a loving Mother, Educator, Volunteer Work, and Advocate for Animals and the Arts. She earned her BA at Francis Marion College, and her MA at the University of South Carolina.
Survivors include her daughter, Shawn Chandler Seddinger; sons, Mark Thurmond Chandler (Sandy Gilbert Chandler), and Matthew Butler Chandler; grandchildren, Sam Seddinger (Hilary), Courtney Chandler Sternenberg (Chris), Ashton Chandler Guyatt (Tom), Matthew Strom Chandler, and Terry Chandler Sellers (Ryan);
Mrs. Chandler was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Butler Chandler; daughter-in-law, Judy Chandler; her loving pet dog, Cassie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be much appreciated to the Dillon County Animal Shelter, an animal organization of your choice, or to the Main Street United Methodist Church.
