McLeod Medical Center Dillon is pleased to announce that Marcella Stanton, MSN, APRN, ACNP, has joined the McLeod Dillon Hospitalist team.
She is board certified as an Adult Gerontology/Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University.
A Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse who has completed specific advanced education and training in the diagnosis and management of medical conditions. Nurse Practitioners diagnose, treat, evaluate and manage short-term and long-term illnesses and diseases.
“I have always had the desire to care for others, even at a young age,” Stanton said. “When I was 14 years old, I volunteered at our local hospital while I waited on my mother to finish her shift in the Operating Room as a surgical tech. I was fascinated by the nursing staff and instantly knew that nursing was a rewarding job.” Stanton says McLeod Dillon feels like family. “The first time I came to McLeod Dillon, I was greeted with sincere smiles. I knew this was a place I could call my work home.”
The hospitalist team at McLeod Dillon is made up of medical doctors and nurse practitioners whose primary professional focus is the medical care of hospitalized patients.
Hospitalists are based in the hospital and specialize in all aspects of a patient’s care – from admission to discharge. Because they do not maintain a private outside practice, the time of the hospitalist team is devoted solely to caring for hospitalized patients.
