Florence Christian handed Dillon Christian a 14-4 loss in varsity baseball in a game played in Florence on Friday, March 17.
Preston Miles was the winning pitcher. He struck out 5 in 4 innings, allowed 2 hits, 2 runs, and walked one.
Rourke was tagged with the loss in the 6-inning game. Rourke tossed one and 1/3 innings and allowed 5 hits , 8 runs of which 4 were earned, walked 1, and struck out 1.
Florence Christian scored a run in the bottom of the first inning to take the first lead of the game.
Neither team could muster a run in the second inning. However, the Dillon Christian School Warriors picked up 2 runs in the top of the third to take the lead 2-1.
In the bottom of the fourth inning Florence Christian managed to pick up 4 runs to reclaim the lead. Dillon Christian garnered 2 runs in the top of the fifth inning to close the gap to only a 1-run lead for Florence Christian. However, Florence Christian pushed 5 runs across in the bottom of the fifth and added another 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth to claim the victory.
The Dillon Christian School Warriors were plagued with 8 errors in the game while Florence Christian committed 2 errors. The Warriors’ Hunt connected for a double and a rbi in his 1 at-bat while N. Smith had 2 hits in his 3 at-bats .
Florence Christian was led by Nick Baker who went 2 for 3 at-the-plated while Brett Martin had a double and 3 rbi in his 3 at-bats. John Weldon also picked up 2 rbi and a hit in his 4 at-bats.
Dillon Christian School will travel to play Pee Dee Academy today, Tuesday, March 21.
