The 3A Player of the Year, Dillon High School’s gifted running back Johnny Allen inked a letter of intent with Newberry College on Wednesday, February 1, at Dillon High School.
While playing football for eleven years, Johnny has received many accolades, awards, and accomplishments that were well-deserved.
After laying out for an entire year due to an injury, Johnny returned to the game of football that he truly loves and once again excelled to the next level.
His parents have always supported him playing football even after his terrible injury. Johnny’s running skills on he field offered much excitement to the football crowds while playing at Dillon High as a running back and a wide receiver.
Allen was not only a great runner but he was also a great receiver and has stats to back up both positions.
Although Allen received other offers from other schools, he elected to attend Newberry. Johnny should feel right at home at Newberry as this is a small school where he can have one-on-one teaching in a good atmosphere while pursuing his football career and a sports management degree.
While Johnny also plays basketball his true love is football where he has 3 state championship rings while playing at Dillon High School.
Johnny’s parents, Nina and Johnny Allen have always supported their son in football and proved to be his best influence.

Much is  expected of Johnny in his future football career, and I’m sure he will not disappoint any of us.

Although Melton received offers from Gardner-Webb, Brown, Wofford, Presbyterian College, North Greenville, Campbell, Army, and Mercer he decided that Charleston Southern was the best fit for him as
the style of play at Charleston Southern on their blocking were the most similar to those used at Dillon High School for the past four years.
J. T. was influenced most in this sport by his parents and his brother.
Melton’s passion for the game of football since he was in the fourth grade and his work ethic has taken him this far. So, he will take both of these traits with him to the next level of play.

I realize that maybe the last game of our past season did not go as planned. However, some of you will leave with 3 state championship rings. That is quite an accomplishment.
While you players were top-notch at Dillon, you will be now playing with players that have your equal ability. The playing field will be even now.
Think about where you will be in five years. Apply yourself now and get a great education.
At the next level we are sure you will receive the same good, quality coaching you received while here.  Just continue to dedicate yourselves and be the best you can be.
