The Latta School Board of Trustees met for the regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. in the District Administrative Conference Room.
Trustees present were Kyle Berry, Ray George, Vanessa Harrison, Stuart Poston, Eleanor Powers, and JoAnn Williamson. Linda James was absent.
Chair Kyle Berry welcomed all present and Dr. John Kirby opened with prayer.
Vicki Kirby introduced the first year teacher induction class to the Board. Each teacher shared their education background and their enjoyment of teaching in Latta School District. Induction class participants are as follows: Jessica Brown, Sandra Gomillion, Taylor Graham, Brittani Owens, and Brandi Sapp.
There being no corrections or additions to the November 14, 2016 minutes, Chair Berry ruled that they stand approved.

DEPARTMENTAL
BUSINESS
Donna Taylor presented the status report for October 2016 and November 2016 on the General Fund budget.
A motion to approve the new 2017-2019 audit contract from Harper, Poston, & Moree, P.A. was made by Eleanor Powers and seconded by Vanessa Harrison. Vote was unanimous.
George Liebenrood updated the Board on the School Report Card Information.
An update on the Latta Middle School roof condition and maintenance staff was given by Larry Legette.
Eleanor Powers presented the Ellis Performing Arts schedule to the Board.
Board members were reminded by Dr. Kirby to complete their Ethic Form.
Dr. Kirby shared with the Board that Hollen Philpot was the recipient of the Latta School Board of Trustees Francis Marion University Teacher Education Scholarship.
In observance of School Board Recognition Month, each Board member was presented a Latta Viking umbrella.
As part of School Board Recognition Month, Dillon School District Three Board Members participated in an official signing of the South Carolina Board Member Ethical Principles.
Dr. Kirby stated that the Superintendent’s Evaluation Form will be sent to each Board Member for completion.

NEW BUSINESS
Dollie Morrell updated the Board on the growth of the Montessori program at Latta Elementary School.
Debra Morris shared with the Board the success of the STEM program at Latta Middle School.
An update of the Latta High School programs was given by Leigh Sloan.
Sandy Jones gave an update on special education at Latta Schools.
George Liebenrood updated the Board on Federal Programs.
