The Dillon County Recreation League 7- and 8-year olds defeated North Charleston 40-0 to capture the Lower State Championship in a game played at Dillon Memorial Stadium on Saturday, Dec. 10, at noon.
#3 for North Charleston kicked off to Dillon to begin the game.
The tempo of the game was set on the first play from scrimmage as #20 Daniel Capehart, Jr., for Dillon picked up 8 yards, and before you were aware #20 had scored the first 6 points of the game from 15 yards.
The 2-point conversion failed, and Dillon led 6-0. This would be the only points Dillon would need to seal the victory. However, Dillon added another 34 points for insurance.
#88 for North Charleston was to be one of the work horses for them. However, Dillon was able to get his number.
After a fumble by #88, Dillon’s #20 Daniel Capehart, Jr., took over again and picked up 8 yards on the first down. #10 for Dillon picked up a fumble and managed to pick up a first down. #20 Daniel Capehart, Jr., for Dillon scampered for a 80-yard touchdown with 2:55 remaining in the first quarter. #10 for Dillon converted the 2 points after the touchdown, and Dillon’s lead was 14-0.
After another fumble by North Charleston’s #3, Dillon’s #3 fumbled, and #28 for North Charleston recovered the fumble. However, North Charleston fumbled again, and Dillon’s #2 recovered.
The first quarter ended with Dillon leading 14-0.
Dillon’s #20 Daniel Capehart, Jr., again scored from 49 yards out, and Dillon led 20-0 with 7:21 remaining in the first half.
The 2-point conversion attempt by Dillon failed.
North Charleston’s #20 took the Dillon kick-off and was hit hard and fumbled, and Dillon recovered.
And, of course, #20 Daniel Capehart, Jr., for Dillon ran for another 49-yard touchdown to increase Dillon’s lead to 26-0 with 4:22 remaining in the second quarter.
#3D converted the 2-point play to make the score Dillon 28 and North Charleston 0.
Dillon’s defense stopped North Charleston on the next series of plays, and the half ended with Dillon leading 28-0.
North Charleston began the second half on offense but fumbled, and Dillon recovered.
And, yes, #20 Daniel Capehart carried the ball in for a 50-yard touchdown this time with 3:15 remaining in the third quarter.

#20 Daniel Capehart, Jr., for Dillon again scored from 66 yards out to make the score Dillon 40 and North Charleston 0.
The 2-point conversion failed. After 3 quarters the score was 40-0, and that’s the final score of the game.
Dillon captured the Lower State Championship!
The chant “We ready for y’all” soon emerged from the players and the hometown spectators.
