Latta defeated Mullins in the Vikings Homecoming game on Friday night. Senior night was held, and a homecoming queen was crowned.

Prior to the kickoff, Latta recognized seniors in football, basketball, band, and volleyball.
The Latta Vikings defeated the Mullins Auctioneers 48-12 in varsity football action on Friday, October 21, in Latta.
Latta’s Keegan Sherman kicked off to the Auctioneers as the Auctioneers called for fair catch. The Auctioneers’ #7 lost 3 yards on the opening play of the game. On second down Mullins’ quarterback, #15, tossed one for 10 yards that brought up third down with 3 yards to go for a first down. The Aucs’ quarterback kept the ball and gained 2 yards to bring up fourth and 1. The quarterback kept the ball and picked up a first down.
Mullins’ #12, Willie Nelson, carried for 4 yards on first down. The Aucs’ quarterback, #15, threw an interception caught by the Vikings’ #7, Deonte Stanley, who returned it all the way for a touchdown with 9:06 remaining in the first quarter to take a 6-0 lead. The PAT was no good.
After Mulllins’ quarterback was dropped for a 6-yard loss on first down, while under great pressure on second down tossed one and Latta was hit for pass interference, one of many penalties in the game. #33 for Mullins was on the receiving end of a pass for a first down and fumbled the ball out of bounds. However, Mullins retained possession. Mullins’ Willie Neson carried on the next play. On the following play, Latta was once again charged with a penalty. This time was roughing the passer. However, Mullins was unable to get any offense going on this series and turned the ball over to Latta on downs.
Latta began the series of plays with a pass from Dylan Brewer to Deonte Stanley but once again Latta was charged with a penalty, an ineligible receiver down field. Keegan Sherman punted for Latta as the Vikings could not muster any offense.
The Auctioneers took over on Latta’s 35-yard line. Mullins’ quarterback kept for 5 yards on the first down. Willie Nelson was dropped for a loss. On fourth and 7, Mullins completed a pass but did not get enough yardage for a first down, and Latta took over.
After the first quarter Latta led 6-0.
With 10:26 remaining in the second quarter, Dylan Brewer threw one to Davonta Porter who scored. The 2-point conversion failed, and Latta led 12-0.
Kendall Moultrie stopped Mullins’ threat with an interception on Latta’s 38-yard line.

Mullins began the next series of downs with Willie Nelson picking up a first down on the first down. Mullins’s quarterback, #15, tossed one to #22 for a completion followed by another pass completion to #22 for a big gain. #10 for Mullins carried on the next play followed by a completion to #22. On the next play, Mullins’ quarterback completed one to #22 for a touchdown. The 2-point conversion failed and Latta led 18-6 with 49 seconds remaining in the first half.
Latta was threatening from the 1-yard line as time expired in the first half.
Tyliyah Grice was crowned Latta’s homecoming queen at the half.
On the opening series of the third quarter for Latta, Kendall Moultrie caught a pass and carried it 72 yards to Mullins’ 20-yard line. Ontario McLellan carried the ball to the 5-yard line. Davonta Porter scored with 10:06 remaining in the third quarter. Jamarcus Legette converted the 2-point play to make the score Latta 26 and Mullins 6.
Mullins faked a punt by #15, the quarterback, who picked up a first down.
After 3 quarters, Latta’s lead was 26-6.
With 9:28 remaining Devonta Porter scored, and the 2-point conversion failed to give Latta a 34-6 lead with 9:28 remaining in the game.
Ontario McLellan scored with 8:39 remaining, and Chandler Nolan scored on a 2-point conversion to give Latta a 40-6 lead.
The final was Latta 48 and Mullins 12.
Latta’s quarterback, Dylan Brewer completed 7 of 17 passes for 168 yards and 1 touchdown.
Davonta Porter caught 4 passes for 62 yards and 1 touchdown.
Kendall Moultrie was on the receiving end of 2 passes for 86 yards while Damien Braddy had 1 reception for 20 yards.
The Vikings’ Ontario McClellan carried 13 times for 109 yards and 1 touchdown while Chandler Nolan carried 10 times for 60 yards.
Latta’s Davonta Porter had 2 touchdowns.
The Vikings’ Justin Hall and Miley Dotson each had 9 tackles. Jamarcus Leggette added 6 tackles in the victory for Latta. Trey Manning and Chandler Nolan each contributed 5 tackles in the win. Jalen Gomillion had 4 tackles. Dylan Carter contributed 3 tackles while Trey Anderson added another 2 tackles.
Davonta Porter had 2 interceptions while Kendall Moultrie, Damien Braddy, and Deonte Stanley each had 1 interception, and Deonte Stanley had 1 FF.
Latta is now 4-3 for the season and 2-1 in Region 7-2A.
The Latta Vikings will travel to Carvers Bay on Friday, Oct. 28, at 7:30 p.m. for a Region 7-2A showdown.
