On Wednesday, October 12, members of Latta Baptist Church and residents of Latta gathered together to collect supplies for those forced to go to local shelters due to Hurricane Matthew.
The idea of the donation drive came just the day before and with the help of social media and many texts, the drive was a complete success and an overwhelming blessing!
The group collected items to make Ministry Health Kits for those in need.  These kits included one towel, one washcloth, soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, and a comb.
Items were also collected to make Fun Bags for adults and children.  These bags contained coloring books, crayons, puzzles, small toys, crossword puzzles, etc.
It was obvious that those in the shelters would need supplies to keep them clean, as well as entertained.  Cases of water were also collected during the day.
Latta Baptist Church delivered three car loads of supplies to the Dillon Middle School Shelter, and approximately 30-40 bags and water were delivered to local streets in Latta where families were in need.  Later on three more car loads fell in line with the Latta Police Department that traveled to Sellers to deliver MREs.
The Bible teaches us that we are to share with people who are in need (Romans 12:13) and Latta Baptist Church was honored to provide relief to some of those affected by Hurricane Matthew.
