A ceremony will be held to honor two Dillon natives who are retiring from the military.
The ceremony will take place on Fort Bragg North Carolina at the Noncommissioned Officer Academy on 29 September 2016 at 3:30 pm.
Sergeant Major Irwin L. Whittington, a graduate of Dillon High School class of 1984 is retiring after 32 years of faithful and honorable service to the United States Army. He will participate in a retirement ceremony where he will be receiving his official retirement Award and Certificate. The ceremony will be conducted on Fort Bragg North Carolina at the Non-Commissioned Officer Academy on September 29, 2016 at 3:30 pm. Sergeant Major Whittington is currently the 3rd Infantry Division G4 Maintenance Sergeant Major at Fort Stewart Georgia. He served three combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and is a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal.
Command Sergeant Major Patrick A. McBride, a graduate of Dillon High School class of 1985 is retiring after 31 years of faithful and honorable service to the United States Army. He will participate in a retirement ceremony where he will be receiving his official retirement Award and Certificate. The ceremony will be conducted on Fort Bragg North Carolina at the Non-Commissioned Officer Academy on September 29, 2016 at 3:30 pm. Command Sergeant Major McBride served as the Battalion Command Sergeant Major of the 2-140 Field Artillery Battalion at Camp Shelby, Mississippi. He served four combat tours in Iraq and is a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal.
