Dear Editor:
I read the letter that was submitted to you and published in your paper on June 21, 2016 by Mr. Wil Brown. It is amazing that when someone like Bishop Goings takes a stand for their conviction against what the Bible clearly teaches about the LGBT lifestyle, they are labeled as intolerant, homophobic or hateful. I read all of Bishop Goings’ articles and have never found any bias, bigotry, or hate toward anyone in any of them. Yes, I know him well and know that though he hates sin with a passion, he loves the people with the love of God.
I have known him for well over 20 years and have found him to be a man of character, commitment, and courage. I heard when he read Mr. Wil Brown’s letter, he shouted, “Praise the Lord.” Bishop Goings is a man who will not back down when he believes he is right. He’s a man of true grit. He believes that he has been called and commissioned by God to defend the faith and principles that made this nation great. I know there are many others out there like me, who read his column and believe as he does. It’s time to let our voices be heard by sending a letter to you, the editor, in support of Bishop Goings. We cannot stand idly by and do nothing while a true voice for ethic, morality, and biblical principles is being attacked for telling the truth. I believe that such apathy and cowardice would only encourage others who embrace Mr. Wil Brown’s opinion to do likewise. Like, Bishop Goings, I can also say that though I hate sin, I love and pray for all men to be saved through Jesus Christ.
