The Dillon Wildcats defeated Hannah-Pamplico 2-1 in varsity baseball action played in Dillon on Monday, March 28, 2-1.
Billy McGirt pitched 5 2/3 innings and struck out 9, walked 3, and allowed no earned runs in the victory.
Nick Owens pitched 6 innings and allowed 5 hits, 2 runs of which both were earned runs, walked 1, and struck out 3 in the loss for Hannah-Pamplico.
The ‘Cats picked up a run in the bottom of the first inning to take an early lead. However, Hannah-Pamplico knotted the game at 1 in the top of the second inning.The game remained tied until the bottom of the fifth inning when Dillon picked up what would be the winning run.
DeKendric Graves picked up 2 hits including a triple in 3 trips to the plate for the ‘Cats. Jon-Mitchell Carter picked up 1 hit in his 2 at-bats with a rbi. Austin Moody also picked up a hit with a rbi in his 3 trips to the plate while Vic Cooper and Nick Owens each went 1 for 2 in the game.
Dillon is now 4-5 for the season.

Kale Page picked up the win for Dillon as he pitched 3 innings. He struck out 2, allowed 5 hits, 3 runs of which 2 were earned, and walked 3.
Vic Cooper pitched 4 innings in the losing effort while allowing 7 hits, 8 runs of which only 3 were earned, struck out 3, and walked no one. Dillon picked up 2 runs in the top of the first inning, and Hannah-Pamplico picked up 1. The ‘Cats scored a run in the top of the third. Hannah-Pamplico knotted the game at 3 when they scored 2 runs in the bottom of the third. The Wildcats had a big offensive surge in the top of the fourth and scored 5 runs. The ‘Cats managed to score another run in the top of the seventh to win the game 9-3.
The Wildcats garnered 9 hits in the game and committed 2 errors while Hannah-Pamplico picked up 10 hits and committed 7 errors.
Dillon was led by Dekendrick Graves who got 3 hits in 4 trips to the plate. Jon-Mitchell Carter picked up 2 hits in 3 trips to the plate and a rbi. Jordan Hyatt was also 2 for 3 for the ‘Cats.
Hannah-Pamplico’s Nick Owens was 2 for 3 at the plated while Easton Tanner was 2 for 4. Carson Gibbs also picked up 2 hits in 4 at-bats and a rbi.
Dillon will host Loris On Tuesday, April 5.
